Simple vegan chocolate cake / Bolo vegano de chocolate

I never thought cooking without eggs and milk could be so uncomplicated, I tried this recipe some time ago and it really surprised me by it’s simplicity. This vegan chocolate cake recipe is incredibly easy to follow  and the cake turns out really moist and delicious.

Vegan Chocolate Cake

1 ½ cup of all-purpose flour
1 ½ cup whole wheat flour
⅔ cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ cup of raw sugar
¾ cup vegetable oil
2 cups of cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cider vinegar

Preheat oven to 175 º C. Grease a round pan with approximately 20cm width (8 inch).
To prepare the cake, sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt and sugar. In another bowl, combine oil, water or coffee and vanilla. Pour the wet mixture into the prepared dry ingredients and mix until it’s all well combined. Add the vinegar and stir quickly. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool for 10 minutes in the form. Transfer to a plate and garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate ganache.

Bolo de chocolate vegano

1 ½ chávena de farinha de trigo para usos culinários
1 ½ chávena de farinha de trigo integral
⅔ chávena de cacau
2 colheres de chá de bicarbonato de sódio
1 colher de chá de sal
1 ½ chávena de açúcar amarelo
¾ chávena de óleo vegetal
2 chávenas de água fria ou café
1 colher de chá de extracto de baunilha
2 colheres de sopa de vinagre de cidra

Pré-aqueça o forno a 175ºC. Espalhe óleo ou margarina numa forma apropriada para bolos (de aproximadamente 20cm de largura). Polvilhe com cacau peneirado ou farinha.
Para preparar o bolo misture a farinha, o cacau, o bicarbonato, sal e o açúcar. Numa outra taça, misture o óleo, água ou café e a baunilha. Deite a mistura no preparado seco e mexa até ficar homogéneo. Volte a mexer e junte o vinagre, mexa rapidamente, pois o bicarbonato de sódio começa a reagir com o vinagre. Sem perder tempo, despeje a massa na forma preparada. Deixe cozer aproximadamente 30 minutos no forno. Retire do forno e deixe arrefecer na forma durante 10 minutos. Transfira para um prato e decore com cacau em pó ou com ganache de chocolate.
